Dr. Porto has been studying the therapeutic effects of sound vibrational modalities for several years. Sound therapy often utilizes instruments such as Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, mantra chanting and tuning forks.

Sound therapy has been shown to be effective in the reduction of stress and pain as well as improving concentration, mood,  and to enhance general overall wellness.

There are many methods of sound healing. Throughout the ages, in all cultures, repetitious chanting of seed syllables and prayers as well as acoustic instruments have been used in healing and prayer ceremonies and circles.  Medical research has demonstrated that stress has been shown to be the root cause of many illnesses. Binaural technology has gained respect as a therapeutic healing tool to reduce stress, induce relaxation, peace and calm and even heighten enlightenment potential and enhance religious and spiritual connection.

Because our bodies are largely composed of water, the whole body responds to sound. Sound vibration can penetrate into the deepest levels of our being.  Scientific studies demonstrate that sound waves can produce changes in the immune, endocrine, autonomic and neuropeptide systems.

Precision calibrated tuning forks are particularly well suited to communicate via placement on or near pressure points, meridians (subtle energetic pathways) in the human or animal body as well as working within the energy bio-field extending five to six feet beyond the body.  As one listens to and feels the changes in the vibrational tones and patterns emitted, one can discern dissonance and congruence. Different tuning-fork vibrational frequencies swiftly harmonize dissonant energy through the process of "entrainment." Many people report that even after only one tuning fork treatment the effects were revitalizing and healing.  Also, often they report effects are lasting.

Tuning fork sessions, unless specifically indicated as a stand alone treatment, are generally combined with energy balancing, aromatherapy and guided meditation.

"Sound enters the healing equation from

      several directions: It may alter cellular  functions through energetic effects; it may entrain biological systems to function more

       homeostatically; it may calm the mind and therefore the body;

  or it may have emotional effects, which

                  influence neurotransmitters and neuropeptides, which in turn help to regulate

  the immune system--the healer within."
